Dudecast - Muzak Sampler 001

The purpose of this podcast is to potentially pad out your predisposed musical penchants. That is to say, here is some music that we know about that you probably don't- and we are here to share it. We give no guarantees that you will enjoy or even like any of the songs we have chosen to exhibit here, but we do hope that you may accidentally discover something you may not have otherwise. Six songs, briefly punctuated by brief exposition, await you below. Also we have provided links to the simplest information about the six groups we sample from- but we do not recommend you visit those links until you have had a chance to partake of the music.

Toy Dolls (british punk)

Midnight Brown (indie electronic)

Doctor Steel (mad scientist steampunk)

Zug Izland (detroit alternative rock)

Diskoteka Avariya (russian techno)

That Handsome Devil (alternative hip-hop)

Dudecast - From the Balcony Ought'9

A lot of important movies came out in 2009, but how many of them were actually good movies? Welcome to "From the Balcony", the movie deliberation segment of what we do here at the Dudecast. Joined by a special (and possibly impartial) guest, we wade through a master-list of movies released in the past year and determine which movies are worth seeing. And we mean that literally; we ain't film critics here, nor are we professionals, we are simply on a mission to isolate the movies that came out last year that you didn't see- but should have. We're calling our list: 2009 Movies for 2010. Documented here for your listening pleasure is the process we went through to come up with the list. So listen closely to the audio sweat and blood that we gave up to movie headhunt for you: our adoring public.

For the completed and spoiler-filled list: CLICK.

Editor's Note: The original incarnation of this podcast was a four-hour behemoth. I could only do so much to make a cohesive piece of audio, but there are certainly times we reference things that happened earlier in the recording that have since been cut. Although it pained me to trim it to such an extreme degree, I did so for the benefit of your attention spans- lest they be crushed under the weight of our full deliberations.

Dudecast - Zombies Ate My Podcast

Everyone knows that someday the world will end- that is for us humans anyway. While there is little debate that someday human life on Earth will cease to exist, there are disputes over how it will all end. Religiously foretold doomsday? Mutual nuclear annihilation? Global warming? Many theories exist, but perhaps none are as iconic (or as cinematically profitable) as zombies. There are almost seven-billion people living in the world, so arguably one of the most dangerous apocalypse scenarios would be if they all decided to start eating each other. But we at the Dudecast are here to help and educate you, so that you will be sufficiently prepared when it all eventually goes tits-up. So pull up a chair and take a few notes as we analyze a handful of the major aspects of the Zombiepocalypse. And for now let us put to rest all the zombie-talk that has permeated our society for the past decade; the world has clearly moved on it seems.

Dudecast - Nederlandse Kerstmis

It's Christmas all over again... 'tis the season to be jolly. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas- let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. All I want for Christmas is you, but baby it's cold outside. In the meadow we can build a snowman... deck the halls with boughs of holly? I wanna wish you a merry Christmas, it's the best time of the year. Hark! The herald angels sing: "Grandma got run over by a reindeer." There's no place like home for the holidays, so have yourself a merry little Christmas. Midi-Techno Good King Wenceslas.

Dudecast - Oats in my Throat

This particular bit of audio is kind of an amalgamation of as many different things we could think of to talk about. We also eat some horrible, awful, terrible hippy food and wash it down with unpronounceable drink.

Dudecast - Alpha

Hey y'all. In this inaugural audiocast we touch briefly on a few different topics. Mainstream rhythm games have made way for enthusiast third-party products, which some of us are more than happy to spend (read: waste) money on. Continuing on the video game train Soul Calibur 4 is out this week, and they really want your money. In an effort to better serve you, the public, we embark on a taste test adventure which ultimately leads to disappointment.
